Announcement    Hello there and welcome to the Verdant Muse. After nearly 7 years of designing tribal fusion costumes, I have decided to retire. I don't plan to list any more items in this shop, and I am also no longer taking on any new commissions.

I do not have any vending gigs on the horizon for this year. I will be teaching a class on sewing bedlah bases at Reigning Down on Oregon in Salem, OR on Feb 22-25th. If you're interested in booking me to teach a class, please contact me at theverdantmuse (at) gmail (dot) com.

Please check my website for updates, a gallery of my past work, and shop for available pieces for sale from here on out:

Also check my destash shop for tons of sewing, costume, and jewelry supplies from my overwhelmingly huge supply nest: https://www.etsy.com/shop/VerdantMuseDestash

Frequently asked questions

Pantaloons FAQ:

-Why is there no size small? The medium can easily be taken in at the waist elastic on any pair of M/L and then fit a small, just message me first. :)
-What about XXXL and larger? I don't make these sizes in ready to wear, but just about any size can be made to order, feel free to ask! I love to accommodate dancers of all sizes & shapes.
-Do you take custom orders? Yes! I've switched over to using new rayon fabric for pantaloons, and various suppliers carry over 800 different designs and solid colors. There's also the option of other fabrics, but I've mostly stopped using vintage saris (plus side was they were more green-friendly, but downside was the reliability of the fabric). These can be made to order in any size.

Custom and personalized orders

I am no longer accepting custom work, but can recommend you to some great designers who are. :)

Care instructions

Costume items should be spot cleaned ONLY and stored/transported with caution. You may hand wash them very gently and only occasionally. Please DO NOT dry clean them. :)

Vintage sari pants should be washed on the gentle cycle or hand washed in cold water + vinegar to prevent bleeding, and hung to dry. Portable steamers work great for removing any wrinkles, but they can also be ironed on med high heat (steam is ok).

Items made with new fabric (rayon pantaloons, velvet skirts, stretch material & new silky prints) can be laundered as usual, though washing in cold water and hanging to dry is best. Rayon can wrinkle, so please store it folded, or on a hanger.

Can I reserve an item?

If you are requesting an item or wish to reserve an item please be prepared to make a (25% or more, non-refundable) deposit/payment first. I cannot hold it for you until you can, apologies! :)

Once payments begin, you will have 90 DAYS by default to pay off your order, but be sure to CONTACT ME if you need an extension. I'm pretty flexible and understanding. If I don't hear from you for longer than 120 days, I will assume you've disappeared, and no payments will be refunded.

What about repairs?

I do my best to make pieces as well as possible, but sometimes rings open, fabric tears, strands break, rhinestones fall out, the world is an imperfect place. I love the opportunity to fix things and make them right if things go awry. I'll charge a reasonable rate for fixes (minor ones are free) if you pay the shipping both ways. If it's my mistake, I'll cover all the expenses. I stand by my work and my reputation! :)
